Austin was born with an extremely severe form of Hirschsprung's Disease, resulting in Short Gut Syndrome. He has ~30 cm. of functioning small intestine (approximately 10% of his entire intestine remains). His entire non-functioning large intestine was removed at 3 months of age. He is TPN dependent.
